About the Presenter:
My areas of interest are in Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics in general and in Proton Beam Therapy in particular. I received my education and university degrees in Physics (Diploma, M.S. equivalent in the U.S.) from University of Dortmund and Medicine (summa cum laude) from University of Cologne. I was trained as a certified Radiologist both in diagnostic and therapeutic radiology at German hospitals. I came to the United States as a Scholar of the Deutsche Forschungs Gemeinschaft (German Research Society) to develop small-field radiation treatment techniques for pituitary adenomas with proton beam therapy at the world's first clinical Proton Treatment Center at Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC). I am now Assistant Professor in Radiation Medicine at LLUMC, where I do research, teaching and stereotactic proton treatments.
